Very frosthardy bush that can grow up to 1,5 meter after some years. The varety 'edulis' has a more pendant overhan, ging growth compared to the variety 'kamtschatica'. Honeyberries prefer a sunny or halfshaded spot. Any soil that has a good texture will do (cover the soil with a good mulch - preferrably from wood origin) Crops very young (often already from the second year) More fruits will be harvested when more bushes are planted together. Flowers very early (March) but the flowers are very cold tolerant (where do yoou think the kamtschatica stands for?). It has whitish-yellow tubular flowers (as other honeysuckle shrubs) that are pollinated by bumble bees. Care: cut away crossing branches. Use some old compost as mulch and cover compost and soil with wood clippings.. Birds like the berries very much, so protection will be needed... |
